He reportedly told investigators that he wanted to seek refuge in North Korea or another country due to his disillusionment with an "unequal American society," per KCNA.
Before King crossed the border, he faced accusations of punching a man, insulting the South Korean army, and damaging a police car in 2022, Reuters reported.
